History
The 1924 Nash Hearse was the first Motor hearse in Murray Bridge. Custom built on a chassis extended 2 feet by Pengelly & co. coachbuilders of Edwardstown, Adelaide. My father was the local funeral director. The Nash was in service in Murray Bridge until 1952 when it was shipped overseas to Kangaroo Island to continue serving as a hearse. It was then used for fishing, surfing and camping trips around the island until it fell into disrepair from the sand and salt water from the many beach trips. In 1975 we purchased the Nash and it returned to Murray Bridge.Over many years we rebuilt and restored the hearse to its former glory, completing the restoration in 2000.
