History
I brought this car when I was 19. I fell in love with Statesmans when I was in high school. After I had finished a shift at my local supermarket, I looked at the community notice board and saw a Holden Statesman advertised for sale for $2000. It was two streets away from my house so I was inclined to have a look. I met the seller at the local servo and noticed the car whilst was quite straight, was a litte bit rough around the edges. I left and slept on the thought of purchasing it. I decided I wanted to buy it. I was a P Plater, it had a supercharged V6, what else could a young guy want?
It had high KMs. I ended up picking it up for $1500.
I spent the next few months getting it ready for it's registration. Bushes, Tyres, Brakes, replacing the leaking rear coolant U pipe behind the supercharger.
After I got it registered, I drove it for about 13 months. It was relatively reliable until the auto started to slip, and then rodney came knocking. The engine had decided to give up at about 370,000kms.
I found someone wrecking a Statesman with the same engine but at much lower kilometres than mine, it sounded healthy until...
Purchased the new donk and transmission for $700. Installed it into then car. Had issues getting it to start, turned out to be a cable in the loom not inserted all the way correctly. Started the car, new engine was knocking.
I decided that I didn't want to waste any more money on this car and decided to sell it.
Sold it for $1300 to a guy that lived in Echuca.
Was sad to let it go and in hindsight I wish I kept it. I love the shape of the WH but it's getting really hard to find a clean one at a reasonable price.
