History
I first saw these wonderful little cars at the 1986 Melbourne Motor Show and decided then and there I was going to own it one day.
We purchased our vehicle in 1992 which then belonged to a Singapore doctor. It had 8,932 km on the odometer and the rego number TD. I saw it advertised in UNIQUE CARS, I rang the Dealer selling it and my wife and I bought a one way air ticket and flew over and we purchased it in Adelaide and drove it back to Melbourne over 2 days.
It has given us ( me) many hours of pleasure especially with the top down and wind in the hair ( I still have some) at weekends and on Club days when like minded owners get together.
It draws admiring glances wherever I go or leave it parked, although one day I heard a rather uncharitable comment at the opening of the Albert Park races when the TD2000 club had their cars on display. I heard one man say to another "of course its not real", the thought went through my mind...."at least it's MINE and I can get in it and drive whenever I want without it breaking down like many old cars do"....old world looks and modern reliability.
Do I love it?....YES I DO.
Biggest buzz was recently meeting the father of the TD2000's, Mr Ross Marshall and getting my photo taken with him and the car. Not many people can say that.
I feel proud that it is a GENUINE Australian made vehicle which will be a REAL collectors item one day if not already as there are only a limited number that were ever built in Australia, supposedly somewhere around 100 +/-
