History
This gorgeous Monarch Orange 1948 Chevrolet 3100 is a professionally restored truck that can be driven and enjoyed, and, will win its share of trophies as well if desired. We located this ’48 in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area where its previous owner pampered it for the past 1 1/2 years while he owned it. He purchased it after it had already received a very high quality, frame off restoration about 2 years prior, but he did add some things to make it his own. He loved getting it out when he was not traveling with his band and took it to quite a few shows where he said he always brought home a trophy or award. After he retired, he had moved to Santa Fe, NM to live the good life and part of his plan was to own a bunch of different cars and trucks he always wanted. He decided he had his fun with this one and was ready to locate a Triumph TR-6 to enjoy for a little while. We quickly purchased it and had it transported on an Enclosed trailer here to the Atlanta, GA area. It was just as he described and I have driven this truck and it hits the road beautifully. We added a few touches we thought the next owner might appreciate like some custom pin-stripe accents and a great set of American Racing 18″ wheels. The 3100 was purchased by us and imported to Australia in November 2015. since then we have air conditioned the vehicle and fitted some LED park and tail lights and retractable seat belts.
Modifications
Small block Chevy 350 that we were told is putting out 370 horsepower. some of the details we were given on the build include: 4 bolt main, bored . 40 over, Comp cam, 10:1 compression, hydraulic tappets, Edelbrock performer intake and Edelbrock 600cfm 4bbl. carburetor. This motor breathes out a great set of Hedman headers through an awesome sounding dual flow master super 44 exhaust. GM 5 1/2 qt. oil pan with high volume oil pump. This motor runs nice and cool thanks to the Billet Specilaties aluminum radiator and electric fans. Completely rebuilt Turbo 350 Automatic transmission with B&M shift kit and 2400 rpm stall converter. This truck shifts strong and smooth launching you to speed when needed and capable of cruising at highway speeds with ease. This truck handles the road beautifully thanks to the Chevy S10 front clip integrated in to the stock frame, as well as the 3:23 posi rear end. Front suspension has coil overs and shocks and rear has leaf springs with adjustable air shocks. ECI engineered power front disc brakes have this truck stopping with ease. Power steering makes handling a breeze and this truck has an awesome stance thanks to being lowered 5″ up front and 4″ in rear plus a gorgeous set of practically brand new 18″ American Racing Tinted Torq thrust wheels wrapped in practically brand new Sumitomo Radials. As you will see the frame was stripped and painted body color when the frame off restoration was done and it still looks fantastic underneath this truck. You could put mirrors under this one at the shows for sure. The engine bay is nicely dressed up and detailed as well.
