History
Like a lot of other folks I dreamed of owning one of these when they first appeared on the market, but they, save for the limited factory import simply unavailable. Now, they are not exactly cheap, but much easier to get. The hard job was finding something resembling original specification.
My particular car was lurking at the back of a workshop in Sydney. Seems that it was brought in for a major set of upgrades, but the owner couldn't pay the bill and just walked off. The car was left to rot literally and suffered not only from exposure but from parts being err... "borrowed" for other projects.
The good news was that the original parts were all still there
Modifications
We're keeping the "N1" oil pump and ancillaries because they make it more reliable (lubrication was a weak point in the early RB's), but the goal is to remove all the aftermarket add-ons that two or three previous owners have added in a rough fashion.
