This red beast started life as a bog standard C code convertible, born in San Jose in 1967. After a fairly hard life in the dry climes of California, she was shipped to Oz where I spotted her.
A decade went by as the kids grew up and we had a load of fun in the old girl, with tatty Mexican paint and bog job. Finally the time had come to clean her up and straighten out the dings.
After a few weeks of pulling things straight, undoing the yankee bodywork (mega-bondo) and adding a fibreglass shelby bonnet, she was ready for the paint. Originally candy apple red, I was keen to keep the red colour, so we laid down a base of Rover Red, then a couple of coats of clear, then a gold fleck pearlescent and another coat of clear.
The end result is stunning! A high gloss red which sparkles with gold dust when direct sun hits it.
