History
I purchased this original Leyland Moke ute for $800 back in 1995 for my first car. It was stripped back to undercoat per the first few photos at the time and had a lot of rust when I bought it (the galvanized models only came in later with the Mini models). We worked to strip it back, replace panels that were too damaged and re-sprayed it with the help of a panel-beater mate of mine to restore it to the condition in the main photo.
The car was a very rare ute model, with matching manufacturer's stamps on the body and tray and had the original 998cc motor. It was brilliant once restored and really turned eyes when driving it on the road. I had many offers to sell, but couldn't let it go and drove it as my main car for 4 years, after which it went into semi-retirement to the family property.
I taught both my wife to drive in it (when I first met her in 1998) and eventually my teenage daughter (later on the property) and ended up keeping it up until 2013, when I sold it on to a guy who wanted to restore it again.
I now wish that I had held onto it though and my second daughter never let's me live it down that she didn't get to learn in it!!
