History
Our Austin Healey 100- Six was constructed between the 20th and 25th of March 1958 and despatched from the Abingdon Factory to Brisbane Australia on 10th April 1958. As such, it was one of the last cars to be built at the British Motor Corporation factory at Abingdon before the factory temporarily halted production of BN4 models to produce a number of the two-seater BN6 models from April 1958.
According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, only 87 Right Hand Drive BN4’s were built at Abingdon for export to countries such as Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. All other export BN4’s were the earlier so called 8 port model built before November 1957 at Longbridge in the Austin factory.
The car was finished in Pacific Green over Florida Green with Grey trim and Grey hood. This appears to be a very rare colour scheme.
Equipment details included wire wheels, overdrive, laminated windscreen, Dunlop road Speed tyres and the factory records emphasize that the car was supplied less heater. Dunlop Road Speed tyres were fitted as standard if an overdrive or wire wheels were specified and an adjustable steering column was standard equipment on this first batch of Abingdon built cars
