History
Since acquiring the car I have managed to find out that in the EL range spanning from 1996 to 1998 only 46 wagons in GLi spec left the factory with a v8 under the bonnet all with autos attached. Mine being a December 1996 built car means the its in the early run and with help from Ford I have found that there were only 10 v8 GLi wagons built in 1996 but I do not know how many were built in the same colour
Modifications
The car is lowered has extractors and a 3 inch sports exhaust fitted. It has some nice interior upgrades including stereo and and some velour and chrome accents and a couple of leather wrapped parts from a Fairlane
The engine is running a custom camtech cam, ti performance j3 chip with custom tune, 1/2 inch phenolic spacer, 9.0mm leads and a ported and polished maf. along with the previously mentioned exhaust power is currently sitting at 143rwkw which is almost a 30% increase at the wheels over stock
I built and fitted a custom body kit consisting of front and rear bars, side skirts and a custom tailgate garnish. The bonnet has been modified as well with bonnet pins, toyota corrola bonnet scoop and steel bonnet vents. The car is now Black all ove with orange graphic/ pinstripe that is also paint. above the graphic I sprayed black metal flake over the black and the lower parts of the car had an orange halographic flake sprayed.
The car rides on genuine BA XR8 option wheels which fit the car well as it has an aftermarket 330mm twin piston front brake upgrade and an AU3 ute 3.45 diff out back currently with stock AU brakes. To help the car further an adjustable 32mm front sway bar is fitted and have the car handling like and over sized go cart.
Bits up may not notice at first glance are Fairlane side moulds, shaved aerial and shaved rear wiper. the rear washer had be replaced with a camera the works with the custom mounted screen in the dash
