History
The car was purchased 37 years ago after the previous two door Regal(purchased for $300) had fallen into disrepair. The car was picked up after being spotted in a Trading Post newspaper ad. The ad didn't feature a photograph but only noted a "Silver Chrysler coupe for sale-$900. Flemington used car lot. Having saved for a number of weeks, given that my weekly take home pay was $35 a week (just like it will be soon again), I got my brother to take me over from Mt. Waverly to the Flemington car yard for an inspection. The silver paint was the very rough product of the previous owner but fortunately he had just blown on a quick acrylic silver and not even laid up any primer, so as a restorer, I knew that it would be no big deal to paint it the colour I very much preferred...blue. Imagine the my absolute delight when I opened the door and discovered that the factory colour was not only blue, but my favourite powder sky blue! I handed the man his money and happily drove her home for the projected return to a proper colour. In the meantime; a job change or two and several other holdups over an 8 month period of joyous drives in my beloved Pacer meant by the time I met my beautiful wife for the first time, the Pacer was still as I had purchased it. My then new girlfriend and I spent another glorious 2 months driving around and discovering we were to be together forever and that a coupe would not suit a family daily. We settled on a CM Valiant station wagon and the the Pacer was mothballed shortly after, until I had the time, place and funds to do her properly. Then life really got in the way and now my two sons (34 and 24) and I sat on Saturday wondering what we are going to do with the old girl that has sat almost completely out of sight in dry storage for the past three and a bit decades. We will have to see.
