History
Bought new from (now closed) Fraserâs Bathurst. Originally fitted with a bobbed rear fender this provided the impetus for slow change over several years.
Modifications
The footboards went first being replaced with billet alloy forward controls and new lines. Various seats followed until I settled on the Le Pera Maverick thatâs proven extremely comfortable for 900klm days. Bars were changed a few times and are now Burleighâs westerns. So the feet, seat and arm combination now suits very well. Sticking with the "round" theme the standard horseshoe oil tank was replaced with a vintage round style. All tin wear was replaced. 20lt stretch tanks, sport front fender and a modified fatboy rear fender. Paint is a marbled Mazda pearl red and looks great. At the time I decided not to use HD graphics and the only HD logoâs can be found on the mirrors. All that heavy and unessential driving light setup came off and was replaced with a vintage look round headlight nacelle. The front rim was changed to 19" giving far better and quicker turn in. At the same time progressive springs were fitted upping the handling stakes. 4 spot calipers and a new front disc were fitted to help stop the show. Big Redâs been running Fournaleâs shocks for quite some time and these have proven a fantastic choice. Modified bag frames are set up to take expandable soft bags and the standard sissy bar with a modified rack will hold a gear sack. Good for extended touring. The EV27 cam and Vance & Hines Pro Pipe give this old girl a fair performance boost over standard. Torque curve is quite linear and good for touring. Many other small changes cosmetic changes have been made that make this bike a keeper.
