History
Our research has shown that Lincolns are rarer than Packards and Cadillacs. The 5 passenger coupe body style had a total run of only 484 vehicles. There are only 5 of this body style known to remain throughout the world. The reference book “The Standard Catalogue of American Cars 1805-1942” shows that in 1929 our Lincoln sold for US$4,800 when a Packard could be bought for US$2,285, a Cadillac for US$3,295 and a Model A Ford for just US$450.
Some of the features of this vehicle are:-
Aluminium Body (apart from the mudguards)
Aluminium crankcase and gearbox housing
385cu inch V8 motor
Gearbox driven air compressor for tyre inflation
6 Wire Wheels
15” Four Wheel Brakes
Engine turned instrument panel
Reversing Lights
Cigar Lighter
Door Switch operated courtesy lights
This vehicle was found by the previous owner in Chicago in 1957 in the basement of a building. He owned it until he passed away in 2012. During his 55 years of ownership it was repainted twice and retrimmed once. Mechanically it has not been restored and we believe that it has only travelled 30,000 miles in its lifetime. It is a pleasure to drive. We recently attended the Mercury Edsel Lincoln Gathering in Temora and then travelled onto Adelaide to participate in the Bay to Birdwood Rally.
