History
Purchased from Victoria, previous owner had done less than 5000km in 7 years and had done nothing except fit wheels, as it had been subject of restoration by previous owner before that when engine had sheared a cam lobe and took the opportunity to replace trim, roof and repaint along with many items from 2001-2004.
Vehicle was highly optioned from factory (we have the original build sheet that was under the front carpet) which includes 455 High Output with dual exhaust and 4 barrel carby (factory rated 255hp, which was hugely understated), 60/40 power seats, power windows, power central locks, air conditioning, bumper overriders, tilt column, rally dash and much more along with the standard power discs and power steering. It's a fairly rare beast with just 3000 built. None of the Grand Villes ever weighed less than 4000lbs!
Unfortunately the paint has been severely damaged last year whilst under a cover outdoors for 7 weeks when I had to replace welded drag link for SA rego with one piece forged unit (which was to take 2 weeks and was unable to move it back undercover when we had one of the wettest months in SA history and the supposedly fantastic big dollar cover seams failed and let water underneath, wherever the cover touched has blistered and is awaiting assessors), hopefully the paint will be restored to its previous beauty in the near future.
Modifications
Engine has been rebuilt for LPG, along with the Turbo400 and drivetrain and pretty much everything has been replaced by original restorer or myself. Lowered and upgraded suspension (shockers and sway bars), LPG and Streeter 17" wheels complete all the actual non factory modifications apart from retrosound stereo and many small custom, but almost unnoticable touches. We have the original Rallye II wheels here for it, which we occasionally put on for a different look and have a set of fender skirts arriving any day for it to add to the original look when required.
Runs like a dream on LPG and a fantastic highway cruiser, its probably only a thumpr style cam and kit, edelbrock intake manifold, pertronix ignition and quickfuel carby to be added (which are all here awaiting the SA winter to arrive), as we got this to cruise every opportunity we can with the family while the kids are young and can grow into car enthusiasts also and don't want it to spend too much time in the shed.
