History
Peanut was my pride and joy, at 17 years old (back in 2000), she was my first and you never forget your first. I was looking for a 70s style small car as my daily driver, and had grown up with Toyotas. We tracked her down through the Rising Sun Car Club. Peanut (who was formerly named Katie because of her “OKT-598” number plates) a one owner KE20 Corolla, was owned by Margaret and Alan who got her from the Farsley Motors showroom at Woolloongabba on November 21, 1974. Alan did tell me he wasn’t sure if he was ready to sell her, as they loved her so much they even threw her a 21st birthday party, but he knew she was going to a good home. When I saw her I fell in love! She was adorable! A little mustard (or peanut color – where she got her name) two door, nugget of a car, in original condition, with the original visor and all the original books. Peanut was passed down in the family to my brother, who dropped a 5K engine into her for a bit more oomph! And then sadly was taken out just two years ago when a ute ran through a red light, receiving that call was probably one of the most emotional things to happen to me as it was almost like a death in the family. But theres a silver lining, as we are able to make her live on in our next project car… yet another KE20.
