Have owned the bike for 20 years, serviced and maintained regularly by Carl Batey at Wattle Flat, NSW. Recently the engine has been rebuilt and now running to its full potential. In its original form, the bike was painted a metallic blue which BMW introduced among a range of colours during an attempt to modernise its image, faced as it was with major competition from the Japanese brands. I had always been one for the traditional black with white pin stripes and the paint (7 layers) has been stripped off back to metal and painted in the BMW colours by a local with experience in motorcycle restorations.
