History
After my last Vl ended in tradgedy after 20+ years of ownership, i felt a certain disconnection that something wasnât right. I searched for months to find another Vl. I found this beaut on eBay for $500 bid. Being at a wholesaler in Dandenong i went down both nights before the Auction ended to check it over.
After still seeing the original head deck & steering wheel still in i knew it was u************.
There was only 1 small bit of rus [about 1 inch long] under the parcel shelf other wise a perfect car.
I placed a bid for $1500, and won it for $1025. The next day she came home with me.
She needed alot of tlc. I started by giving it a massive clean, took 3 hrs with a power hose and degreaser. It was good but not great. They paintwork was matte from years of neglect. It took 5 hours of paint correction to restore it back to former glory. I bought brand new front and rear bumber and recoed the side moulds. Painted them all the factory mx grey and put the finishing red and silver stripe along the top of the moulds.
Also, new tail lights and indicators to add to the mix. The headlight lenses were kept as they still have the factory holden stamp in the lense.
The interior took several days of dismantleing power washing and re installing. The difference was incredible!
I was able to source alot of parts from Jollyâs u-pull it in Dandenong as they had 1 cerulean blue berlina vl in stock.
It needed sunvisor clips [which were incredibly hard to find!], 2 front seats, carpet, n/s & o/s air vents, center console, dome light lense and many more 1% items
It has come a long way and does need a paint strip, dent pull and paint but that will be at a later stage.
The finishing touches are the plates. âGMVL-86â
