History
The Talladega series were a limited number of 200 built by Saab in Finland to commemorate the World endurance record at Alabama's Super Raceway in 1996.
Only 200 were built in 1997, and 200 in 1998.
Of the first 200, 175 were shipped to USA, the last 25 sent to various countries incl 2 convertibles in 1997, with this car as one of them.
All Talladegas had one-off interior leather trim - taupe/charcoal with charcoal carpets, electric roof, electric heated seats, elec tinted windows, mirrors, trunk and fuel cap.
The average speed over a continuous 40,000km was 224kph with the fasted recorded speed of 266kph.
Only 3 colours were available for the 3 types of paint systems of the day - solid black, metallic silver and cyan red pearl.
Point of note:
Ancapp listed the Saab 1997 convertible as the safest production convertible in the world, beating Mercedes Benz in it's rollover category.
The higher rear panels and low-slung rear seats + titanium inserts in front A-pillars contributed to this rating.
