History
A long 17 year history full of trials and tribulations. Purchased 6 months old, ex-Nissan owned, it was a gem of a car - until someone rear-ended it. The vehicle was towed to a very dodgy repairer who really made a mockery of all panel beaters. So much for the Trivett Classic certificate on his wall!
After much persistence with pressuring another insurer, whom shall remain nameless, and escalating it to Insurance Enquiries and Complaints (back in '95), the vehicle was finally restored to its former glory thanks to ED Cullen Smash Repairs in Auburn, then the former dealership's panel shop.
Later it was the performance modifications. First nitrous and then when that wasn't enough, turbocharger. It was fun while it lasted but a vehicle coming to a sudden stop on Anzac Bridge one fateful morning resulted in a collision which simply didn't justify the sentimentality of the vehicle any longer, given it had a brick thrown at one of the passenger doors two months prior and someone attempting to change lanes into it soon after (and it was my lane that was running out!).
The economics of it all brought me to the conclusion that by the time the project was complete, it would be 1/3rd of the cost of the V36 Skyline bought two years later and there was no way the full cost of that car would be reasonably expected to be insured by any insurer.
Many thanks go to Shannons for looking after me through this ordeal. It's no wonder I've come back for my other two vehicles.
It was the saddest loss after being in the family for 17 years. His successor has a lot to live up to.
