History
Originally sold new in the US, the bike was imported into Australia by a Moto Guzzi collector in the mid 1980's. It was in very original but very poor condition when I acquired it. Knowing that the paint would have to be restored (it had been very badly re painted before it came to Australia), there was little choice but to undertake a full restoration.
The bike was completely restored, with the engine, gearbox and rear drive rebuilt, and all components either repainted or restored (as required).
Known as the prima serie, or first series, the first generation Le Mans was built until September 1976 and is characterised by its integrated rear light and fender, more simple dials, chrome clip ons plus several other specific parts. Only an estimated 1900 of these were ever built and they are now considered a true design icon of 1970's superbikes
Modifications
The bike is entirely stock, even down to the bell top carburettors (often changed by owners to flat tops) and heavier standard flywheel (also often changed to a lighter flywheel to improve response).
