History
I bought this bike as a tatty but running example in 2007. I rode it for 12 months before deciding to turn it into a cafe racer, styled something along the lines of the BSA Gold Star racers. Much of the 4 years of build time was spent sourcing parts from all over the world, hence its nickname of "The Postie Bike" as I'm confident that postage costs for these parts kept Australia Post solvent! As of Jan 2012, it was still undergoing work to have it running for Easter, 2012.
Now, in 2016, it’s been running for 4 years and is showing some signs of a happy owner - the ends of the footpegs have been ground down!! I have taken it to Broadford for the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Bike Bonanzas. Just prior to its first trip to Broadford it broke the cam chain and bent 2 valves - just 2 days before I was due to leave. Some last minute spanner work saw it running on the track until a dropped gearbox selector circlip sent it sulking to the shed. A 50c part and quickly replaced .... but not at the racetrack! Since then, it has been trouble free and has done track work at Broadford, Mallala and Mac Park as well as thousands of km of day to day riding.
