We actually started in Perth, as we towed the Alpine across to Tasmania.

The event it's self was 2000km long, consisting of 38 special stages totaling 550km and the rest were transport stages.

I decided not to buy the pace notes, and to run on sight only which whilst a little slower, meant that we stayed on the black stuff and finished.

50 cars didn't and several were total write offs. On the last day which was wet, a total of 12 went off and 5 of those were Porsche 911.???

My little Alpine A110 ran like clockwork and apart from refueling, I replaced 2 bolts from the muffler and 1 nut from the exhaust extractors, which was caused by bottoming out. I also lost a little fibreglass from under the nose for the same reason.

The roads in Tassie are quite smooth but very twisty and bumpy with very large cambers.

It was a great experience and one I would like to do again, but it does come at a price. So I will need to find some sponsors next time. Any takers?

I was quite surprised how much interest we got in the Alpine, not only in the event but travelling to and fro across the Nullabor too. One French tourist could not believe his eyes to see an Alpine A110, when we stopped at Baladonia

There were 3 Alpine A110 in the event and we were there to celebrate the release of the new Alpine which will come to Australia next year.

I have put a couple of pics on my Photo section too.
