Off we went towing the Alpine back across the nullarbor again, taking 3 days to get to Adelaide doing just over a 1000 km per day.
The first day went quite well in the event up to about the 5th stage where the Alpine started missing and back firing badly.
Pulled over after the 7th stage and removed the carbie and cleaned all the jets, changed the plugs and tried another coil, all to no avail as it now refused to start.
Put the car on our trailer and took it to a friend Colin Redmond, where we spent a number of hours doing the timing, checking the distributor parts and anything else etc.
The final part not changed was the condensor. Connected a new one at 10pm and it fired and ran sweetly first turn of the key. Foiled by a $5 part !@#$%^&*().
Any rate we were back in place the next day and had a fantastic run, and whilst not featuring due to missing 3 stages the day before, we were happy with the result and the way the Berlinette handled.
Back on the trailer the next day and heading for Perth.
