History
This car was found in a fruit shed at Loxton SA.It was in a sad state having had the ducksback cut off at sometime and turned into a ute.Luckily the body had been put back on but the car had been abandoned since the sixties. The Alvis club was aware of its existence and recommended it to me as a restoration project.I removed the body and took it to Richard Stanley(coachcraft) who did a beautiful job of repairing what panels he could and made some new ones.I got to work and did the chassis and running gear, making many parts on my lathe and importing from Alvis spares what I couldn't make. Crankshaft rebuilders built the motor, making a billet crank, and had Argo make a set of rods and fitted shell bearings, modern seals and cylinder liners.I rebuilt the cone clutch (never seen one before !) and put new flexible couplings through the driveline. I had to get the body painted as it had sat for so long covered in dust that the aluminium was very corroded, anyway it has been a great project. The body is a restored Cross and Ellis "Ducksback"
