**Likely not the actual car in the picture, but it's so close to my old chariot it very well could be it. Same wheels and everything!**
I bought this monster second-hand in 1987 from a dealer in Toowoomba for $5500. I was the second owner and it was in really good, original condition.
Unfortunately for the car, I was barely 19-years old at the time and I drove it like it was stolen everywhere I went. Also possibly due to my age and sheer stupidity, I bought it on Custom Credit finance and missed too many payments so they repossessed it in 1989 after they managed to track me down in Melbourne.
Just before it was taken away, I went for a final high-speed blast around the Melbourne CBD and back through Heidelberg, and I got pulled over after entering the Western Freeway at about 150-km/h. One of the coppers who booked me liked the car a lot and I believe he went and bought it at auction a week or two later.
Modifications
When I blew the motor up the first time, I had it rebuilt with higher compression and a Holley 4150 carb (650 I think). I also sprung for a new set of 15x8" deep-dish 5-slots and Radial T/A tyres, as you do. The second time I blew the motor up (busted timing chain while racing it around the old DDIAE campus) I'd had my first kid so I could only just afford to get the damaged parts fixed before moving south.
