History
The body of this particular Nash was built by Ruskin Motor Body Works in Melbourne. All the other survivors of this model in Australia, five that I know of, are fully imported cars with an all steel body. Mine has a lot of timber in the body. It was six years old when purchased by my family in 1942. Fire in the engine bay shortly after purchase, caused by a faulty Stromberg carburetor, meant that it was off the road for several months due to war shortage of labour and spare parts.
It was the family car until 1954 and then used as second car/paddock bomb for several years. Sat in shed for many years before it was completely dismantled and a full restoration begun in 2008. Still a long way to go with the restoration. Does anybody know of the existance of any other examples of the same model Nash ? I would be keen to talk to them about it.
Modifications
Has had a Carter W-I 483S carburetor ( ex Chev. ) for roughly 70 of its 80 years
( see History for reason ) and also, though not really a modification, an external colour change from black to grey.
