Memories
I acquired my first Morgan in 1962 and have kept one in the garage for most of the time since. To own and drive one of these is to be English to the core and happy to accept the fact that driving, especially in bad weather, was never intended to be comfortable. (Remember that comfort and enjoy ability don't have to be together).
My first Morgan, powered by an 1100cc JAP V twin, was able to cruise at 136 KMH, (85MPH in proper speed) as the police motorcyclist was able to confirm.
Such is the happiness that these machines are able to produce that when Morgan reintroduced a modern version about 4 years ago that they got 700 orders within 2 weeks, mostly from people over the age of 65. Regrettably I have recently added a far more modern machine to the stable in the form of a 1975 four wheel Morgan 4/4 which I refer to as the Malvern bodied Ford Escort. This has been made necessary by my wife suffering knee and hip problems which made getting in and out of the three wheeler too difficult.
However the noise, smell and classic handling of the machine remain the same even if it has one wheel too many. Unless you have owned one you are unlikely to understand but being English also helps
