A Crazy Ending To The Start Of It All

On Sunday the 7th of June 2009, Our family and a group of friends decided to go hit some off road trials down at Robe/Beachport SA. This was the first time our family had been on a 4wd trip with a group of people. We had a BLAST of a day discovering just what this beast of a Pajero could do. This is where our families love for camping and 4wding started. The day was full of climbing and descending sand dunes, weaving through tight over grown trails and driving through puddles that were probably to big for the car.

As both my parents had to work the next day, we decided to travel home that night. We thought this would be a good idea as there would be little traffic. While driving home, the heavens opened up and BUCKETED down on us. Some of the heaviest rain I have ever been in.

Just before we got to Policeman's Point on the Coorong, we spotted a large truck heading towards us. As he passed, a very large bang followed by the shattering of glass was heard from the roof of our vehicle. The sunroof cover slammed open causing wind  and rain to rush into the vehicle at 110km/h. Our sunroof had exploded.

We suspect the pressure from the passing truck managed to literally "suck" our sunroof right out. Not only had we lost our sunroof but scratched the top of the vehicle of all its paint. The rush of wind also caused the roof lining to rip and fall down into the cabin. Luckily, the rain slowed and the wind coming off of the windscreen managed to keep the water out of the car.

I would LOVE to know if anyone has had a story like this.
