History
Car was purchased out of Canberra and passed rego easily at the first attempt in WA. I am the 3rd owner from new, the car had a 3 yr complete nut and bolt bare metal rebuild 4 years before I purchased it. I have now owned the car for more than 11 years and it does not have any rust and never has had any, it was chosen by the previous owner because he knew the first owner had always garaged the car from new in 1972. Part of the resto by the previous included fitting a 9 inch diff.
Modifications
Even though the car did not need anything done, I just had to personalize it, so I added the billet Intro Show wheels, lowered it, ceramic coated Pacemaker extractors, twin AU Ford thermo fans, Weiand Stealth manifold, stage 2 shift kit and converted the open wheel 9 inch to LSD and changed the ratio from 3.0:1 up to 3.7:1
Next I wanted to go faster so the engine came out and was bored 30 thou, full ARP bolt kit, AFR alum heads fully CNCd, SRP pistons, Crane cam and Crane Gold roller rockers, Lunati lifters, machined to bring compression up to 10.5:1 and fully balanced, "Ice" ignition system and a "Jegs" 3200rpm Blower stall rated at 800HP [tried a B&M Holeshot 2800 convertor, rated at 450HP and when I fitted the carb and ignition system took the car for its first test drive and the convertor went out to lunch when I manually changed into top [3rd] gear at 6800rpm with a very loud bang!] and a Holley 750 Street HP double pump carb.
All this has resulted in a best ET of 12.61 and the Holley still has some tuning to go, so I am confident we will get a 12.4 with good weather, not bad for an unstroked 350 in an all steel coupe with grandad driving!
