History
I built an EH from a shell and setup a 1UZ Lexus V8 Twin-Turbo. Drove it up and down the driveway, then VSB14 came in (NCOP), so had to change it to an LS1 because I couldn't register it. Missed out by 3 months!
Modifications
1UZ twin-turbo that I built firstly. Cut 2 manifolds in half and TIG welded them together with an internal diverter. VL turbo 28 spline LSD diff, etc. Surge tank etc in boot, twin Jag Fillers on rear wings, steering was Commodore column into a rear-mounted 323 Mazda rack (check pics) with custom sump.
Specs of build:
Toyota 1UZ V8 twin cam 32 valve – 200kw factory
• Toyota 4spd auto
• Two x RB25DET turbos (T3 equivalent) that were rebuilt with steel wheels, new water cooled roller bearing centres and high flowed, capable of 270kw each and 21psi.
• Custom steampipe turbo manifolds that were black ceramic heat coated
• Twin 300zx intercooler
• Braided turbo oil lines,
• Custom rear sump
• EMS 8860 sequential injection computer
• 8 x 560 cc RX7 turbo injectors
Then VSB14/NCOP came in and the power to weight rules came in and I couldn’t register it. So, sold the running 1UZ and twin-turbo setup with gearbox and computer to a guy from Sydney to put in his HQ Panelvan.
So, I bought a VT Statesman LS1 for $3k on an Ebay auction from Adelaide (I lived in Canberra) and had it shipped 1200 kms. Luckily it was a good car.
Sold all the doors, body, leather interior and made most of my money back.
Then fitted it all into the EH. Instrument cluster, motor, gearbox, heater, front and rear disc brakes. Built a 2.5" exhaust from mandrel bends and straight pipe. Fitted cats but removed them when engineer said I didn’t need them for rego. Fitted the Statesman dash and cruise control.
Painted it myself in acrylic in the garage and was very happy with the paintjob.
Sold in 2016 to buy the 66 Mustang Convertible.
