History
First owner Lt Col McCarthy MC DSO of Queen Anne's Gate London. Chassis was shipped to Australia about 1930 (little import duty on Chassis but high on bodies) and "Martin & King" (Carriage builders) of High St Malvern built a 7 seat Limousine body for it. First owners were mainly country landowners but the car ended up in Ballarat working for a Funeral Director. I bought the car in 1984 from Peter Brown, Winemaker, of Brown Bros MILAWA and started restoration. All bright-work was replated (including the expensive French GREBEL headlights, upholstery was replaced in grey Connolly Hide and hood lining in light grey "West of England Broadcloth. The roof covering was replaced, magneto, clocks, some gauges & generator overhauled, interior woodwork repaired and coated in clear epoxy (not original but it doesn't degrade in the Australian sun!). In Canberra I had it registered as a "Restricted Hire Vehicle" on Concessional Registration able to do School Formals & Weddings, In 1999 I moved down to the Murray River and the car was garaged for about 15 years until I moved to Albury and started to get the car back into good road condition. The paintwork needs a complete repair and the engine some work (although it still runs very well and has plenty of power). The car will be on display at "Historic Winton" motor races on 28 May 2017 and will go on the market later this year.
