The Falcon 4WD Owners Group was formed in 2000 from the
previously known Falcon 4WD Registry which commenced in 1997. Falcon
4WD Owners Group has a get-together every Easter generally in NSW or
the eastern states, at a pre-booked caravan park. At the Easter
Get-together we usually have a static display on the Saturday
morning and meet up with the local car clubs of the town that we
stay at and also take in any local attractions over the weekend.
The location of future get-togethers is decided at the Group
meeting generally on the Saturday night just before the BBQ.
We are a very friendly lot and make new members very welcome.
We are all interested in the preservation of this unique
vehicle that had a limited production run of 432 vehicles in the
Ford XY Utility body shell only. The Ford Motor Company produced the
XY Falcon 4WD in Brisbane in conjunction with Shute Upton
Engineering (a subsidiary of the Jeep Australia).
The vehicle was developed initially for the Australian Army,
however the vehicles were not contracted by the army. The vehicles
were released to the public around Nov/Dec 1972 and marketed in NSW
and Qld.
