Sold new into the UK in late 1989 and privately imported into Australia in 1996.
One of only two of these very rare full spec Euro "long body" models that exist in Australia today that we know of.
These high optioned Euro examples were never available new to Mercedes Dealers in Australia and had to be privately imported.
This particular example came fully loaded with options including
225kw engine (10:1 comp) with Tri-Y headers and dual exhaust, 722.350 trans, 2:65LSD Diff.
Fully active hydropneumatic suspension (replaces coil springs) from Factory. The car automatically lowers and firms suspension at 120kph & compensates for body roll when cornering during spirited driving (equivelant of modern day car electronic sports mode)and the car can also be raised if negotiating steep angle driveways etc.
Orthopedic,heated and fully electric seats both front and rear
Modifications
This example comes fitted with a genuine rare AMG bodykit that was developed by AMG specifically for the later series 2 SEL chassis (1988-1991) which comprised of a one piece front bumper, rear skirt, side skirts, rear spoiler, Bosch driving lights designed specifically for this AMG front bumper.
Rare factory Wood airbag steering wheel and AMG instrument gauge cluster.
Rare AMG wheels made by the Italian wheel manufacturer "Oz Racing" under license to AMG and known as the AMG/OZ Racing 3 piece forged Aero 1 being 17"x8.5" front and 17x10" rear made for the W126 chassis.
The heads have been fully re-furbed
The Hydro system has been completely rebuilt with new parts including the struts at great expense (+$12k in parts)
Custom full stainless dual exhaust front to rear
Brakes overhauled and other various detailing
Interior upgraded with the optional and rare original AMG door wood package
